GrowthAfrica was Formed in 2002 in Kenya and the organisation and its activities have organically developed and pivoted over the years. From market and business advisory services to provision of micro-finance /SME lending to the development and delivery of startup acceleration programmes and activities the organisation and its team has accumulated a wealth of experience that it is passionately investing into the entrepreneurs and startups it works with.
GrowthAfrica’s startup programmes and activities are designed to accelerate the success of the type of enterprises that can grow to moderate or significant scale and through this growth expand the amount of employment offered, directly or indirectly, as well as offer the market products and services with superior value and/or more affordably. The project will integrally work on matching the entrepreneurs with the right external network and resources with a particular attention to investors and financing. The acceleration programmes and activities are in the next 3 years to be expanded into and anchored in 6 new countries adding to the current 3 countries.
The activities are focused on ambitious and innovative African entrepreneurs with societally impacting and scalable enterprises which create formalised jobs and income generating opportunities. There will be a special attention to the recruitment of female entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs from outside the capitals.
GrowthAfrica has since it started its startup acceleration activities in 2012 run 9 acceleration programmes, graduated 87 startups and 248 entrepreneurs from our programmes. Investments and grants of over 9 million USD have been facilitated in support of the ventures. To date 24,000 direct jobs and income opportunities have been created by the accelerated startups.
